Negotiation

• a way of resolving a dispute instead of going to court
• cases can be very quick or take many years to reslove
• Negotiations take place in private
• Parties can negotiate directly with one another, verbally or in writing meaning it is private and this can take place via telephone, email, text or in person
• Negotiation is very cheap and can be resolved quickly in most cases
• Negotiation is suitable for all types of dispute such as consumer disputes, neighbour disputes but usually not very useful for issues such as divorce unless te parties ar able to get along
• The negotiation procedure requires parties to compromise on their issues and settling the dispute
• The decisions are not binding so taking the dispute to court is another option
