  • Meiosis - where chromosomes in each daughter cell is reduced to half the number in the parent cell. Occurs in sex cells. Produces 4 haploid cell.
  • 1st Stage
    Prophase: Crossing over occurs
    Metaphase: Homologous chromosomes line up at the center
    Anaphase: moves to the opposite place
    Telophase: cytoplasm divides
  • 2nd stage
    Prophase: new spindle forms
    Metaphase: lines up at the equator
    Anaphase: divides and moves to the opposite pole
    Telophase: cytoplasm divides
