1st stage - Forming which is when the group comes together and gets to know eachother - tend to compare ourselves to others.
2nd stage - storming is the stage of potential conflict, individuals compete for position, status or role within the team. coach should look to resolve asap.
3rd stage - norming is where the team begins to settle down and co-operate. group standards are accepted and cohesion develops
4th stage - performing is where all players are now interactive and working together to achieve their united goals
environmental factors are size of group, time available, social loafing ringlemann effect, age and gender.
social loafing is when an individual puts in less effort when part of a group.
The ringlemann effect is where the number of people in a team increases, individual performance decreases.
cohesion is where members of the team to work together to achieve what they want to achieve. cohesion causes success and success causes cohesion
task cohesion looks at the end result and involves every player working together to achieve a goal.
social cohesion looks at the interaction of the individuals in a team and how they work together to achieve a common goal.
