PROTEINS

• • Proteins broken down by enzymes called proteases (found in stomach, pancreatic fluid, small intestine)
• • Proteins are made up of long chains of chemicals called amino acids
• • When we digest proteins: protease enzymes convert protein back into individual amino acids which are then absorbed into the bloodstream
• • When absorbed, amino acids are joined together in a different order to make human proteins
