B&C Evaluation

• B&C was a lab experiment, so it had high control of variables, but had low ecological validity so would be unable to be generalised
• B&C used cats as the sample. A strength of this is that cats are mammals so their visual cortex functions similarly to humans, however the distress caused to the cats may have affected growth, meaning the study cannot be generalised
• B&C might be considered unreliable, as there were only 2 cats, so it is unknown whether a different cat would react differently
• B&C collected both qualitative and quantitative data
• B&C could be considered unethical due to the manipulation of kittens. However it was reported that kittens did not seem upset by their surroundings
