Attachment

• Attachment- a close two-way emotional bond between two individuals in which each individual sees the other as essential for their own emotional scurity
• Interactional synchrony- two people carry out an action at the same time
• Stages of attachment-

  1. Asocial stage (first few weeks)
  2. Indiscriminate attachment (2-7 months)
  3. Specific attachment (around 7 months)
  4. Multiple attachments (after 7 months)
• Animal studies of attachment- Lorenz's ducklings

  • Control group- left with the mother, baby geese/ goslings, followed natural mother
