Tumours

Cards (4)

  • BENIGN
     Slower growing
     Well circumscribed
     Often encapsulated
     Not locally invasive
     No metastatic potential
  • MALIGNANT (CANCER)
    Faster growing
     Poorly circumscribed
     Non-encapsulated
    Invasive growth
     Metastatic potential
  • BENIGN
 Very well differentiatedcells (close resemblance to cells of origin)
 Cellular uniformity, throughout the tumour
     Few mitoses
 Normal Nuclear. : Cytoplasmic ratio
  • MALIGNANT
 Variable differentiation (ranging from well to poorly differentiated)
 Cellular pleomorphism (variability in size and shape)
     Plentiful mitoses
 High Nuclear : Cytoplasmic ratio
    Hyperchromatism
