  • Embryological similarities - embryos look similar but adult forms do not
  • Morphology (Structural Similarities) - homologous/non-homologous structures; vestigial structures
  • Cellular Organization; similar cell structures, most likely related
  • Evolutionary Relationships; escendants today most likely resemble extant ancestors
  • Biochemical similarities; Simple mutations generate little variations in the DNA and proteins being created; "molecular clock”
  • Genetic similarities; different morphology, same DNA characteristics; e.g. yeast and human myosin protein.
