• Human anatomy - the study of the structures of the human body
• Human physiology - the study of the body’s function
• Cells - are the basic units of life and are the building blocks of all living things
• Cells - smallest units that carry out functions of life

  - all organisms are composed of this
• Chemicals - substances with unique molecular composition
• Living organisms carry out chemical reactions collectively known as metabolism
• Metabolic processes either break down ( catabolism ) or build up ( anabolism )
• Growth - increase in size of individual cells

• Excretion - elimination of the potentially harmful waste products produced by the metabolic processes
• Responsiveness - also known as irritability ; sensing and reacting to changes or stimuli In the environment
