    • Technological development- new technology makes it easier to connect globally
    • Economic changes- Economic activity now happens on a 24hr global scale
    • Political changes- Globalisation has undermined the power of the state, we now live in a ‘border less‘ world
    • Cultural changes- There is now a global culture created by mass media, this has led to the westernisation of the world
    • Migration- people are moving more freely within ano between countries for economic and personal reasons
  • Impact of globalisation on education:
    • Increased competition for jobs meaning schools have to change curriculum to meet needs e.g computer science
    • Global ICT companies create online resources
    • Increased multiculturalism in schools
    • Increased competition between schools for students
    • Global rankings used to compare and contrast systems and raise standards
    • Increased risk and safeguarding issues of schools e.g cyber bullying, PREVENT, anti radicalisation

    Globalisation only provides more educational opportunities to the wealthy
    Joel spring- Global corps are setting the educational agenda, creating a digital divide, disempowering teachers
  • Neo liberal view on globalisation:
    • Globalisations allows for private schools to expand around the world
    • Globalisation means that governments can play a reduced role in the education system and reduce funding

    • Creation of global citizens
    • Greater tolerance and respect for differences
    • Greater access to information creating higher educational achievement
