    -esteem needs- feeling of accomplishments

    • self worth is developed when an individual is the recipient of unconditional positive regard
    • often this is parents
    • some parents though impose conditions of worth on children- must behave in a certain way to receive positive regard.
    • may only feel self-acceptance once they meet these conditions of worth- produce a feeling of incongruence
  • pro of humanistic
    • considers the whole person and emphasises free will, holistic approach increase plausibility
    • real-world applications, development of client-centred therapy, emphasis on providing unconditional positive regard to improve self-esteem in order to fufill and live happy life. increase value
