Results

• All the groups had some rebellion
• All but 4 groups refused to sign the affidavit giving MHRC permission to use the video tapes in a trial
• In some groups, ps threatened to confiscate the videotapes of the discussion and expose the oil company to the media
• 22 out of 33 groups had successful resistance to unjust authority
• MHRC groups had no confederates - One of the members in each group spontaneously rebelled - this minority opinion swayed most of the groups
• The person in charge had less control
• Had a boomerang effect when attempting to restrict people's freedom
• Groups behave differently from individuals because of the possibility of collective actions - Ps had time to share information and discuss their suspicions

  They began to question the legitimacy and motives of the authority figure
