  • Solvent: It is the liquid in which the solute is dissolved.
  • A suspension is formed when there is a mixture of a liquid with undissolved solid particles.
  • Examples of suspension:
    1. Muddy water
    2. Chalk powder + water
  • Decantation is a metal used to separate heavy insoluble solid from a liquid.
  • Filtration is a method of separating an insoluble solid from a liquid using a fliter.
  • Residue is the solid which is collected in the filter paper.
  • Filtrate is the liquid which passes through the filter paper.
  • Evaporation is a method used to separate a soluble solid from a liquid.
