• respiraton -process by which plants and animals release energy from food
• arteries - tiny blood vessels that carry blood away from the hearth
• veins - carry blood back to the hearth
• roots - the plant that anchors it in the ground and absorbs water
• chloroplast -tiny structure in plants "where photosynthesis occurs"
• photosynthesis - plants take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen
• transpiration - water moves from the roots of a plant to its leaves
• fruits - part of plants that contain seeds
• stamen - male reproductive parts of a flower
• pistils - female reproductive part of a flower
• germination - seeds sprout and grow into new plants
