• Defeat in World War One


  Had to leave the war (Brest-Litovsk) because of the many loses and anger from the people
• Political maneuvers of the Bolsheviks under Lenin and Trotsky 


  Kornilov coup (attempted military coup) and Lenin in the central committee.
• Deteriorating economic situation


  Really bad economy because of the amount of unemployment with the peasants, who, with the workers, were angry
• Resentment of soldiers, peasants and workers.


  Had been treated horribly, soldiers mistreated by still being in a war they couldn't win and workers have a bad economy
