Leukaemia

• Age groups affected by leukaemia:

  ALL = under 5 and over 50 years of age

  AML = under 19 (rare) and over 75 years of age

  CLL = over 70 years of age

  CML = over 40 years of age
• Cells affected in each Leukaemia:

  ALL = Proliferation of lymphoblast progenitors (blast cells) in bone marrow.

  AML = Proliferation of myeloblast progenitors (blast cells) in bone marrow.

  CLL = Production of immature and ineffective B cells in bone marrow.

  CML = Production of immature granulocytes in bone marrow (neutrophils, eosinophils and basophils).
