Human Transport System

Cards (15)

  • The main parts of the circulatory system are the heart, blood vessels and blood
  • The heart is a pumping organ that drives blood around the body, as well as contains nodes and valves
  • The heart has four chambers: right atrium, left atrium, right ventricle and left ventricle
  • There are three types of blood vessels: the arteries veins and capillaries
  • The arteries are the blood vessels that carry oxygenated blood away from the heart
  • The veins are the blood vessels that carry deoxygenated blood towards the heart
  • The capillaries are the blood vessels that connect the arteries and the veins
  • The blood is a fluid that carries oxygen and nutrients around the body
  • The blood is made up of four main components: plasma, red blood cell, white blood cell and patelets
  • The plasma is made up of mostly water and protein, being some of the nutrient being transported around the body
  • The white blood cell is part of the immune system, mostly activated when you have an illness
  • The red blood cell is the largest cell in the body and transports oxygen around the body
  • The pulmonary circulation starts from:
    1. Right Atrium
    2. Right Ventricle
    3. Pulmonary Arteries
    4. Lungs
    5. Pulmonary Veins
    6. Left Atrium
  • The systemic circulation starts from:
    1. Left Ventricle
    2. Aorta
    3. Body Parts ( any )
    4. Superior or Inferior vena cavae
    5. Back to the Right Atrium
  • The blood above the heart goes to the superior vena cavae, while the blood below goes to the inferior vena cavae
