Cells classifications

• Species - a group of organisms that can reproduce and produce fertile offspring.
• Genus - a group of species with similar characteristics.
• Binomial system - an internationally agreed system in which the scientific name of an organism is made up of two parts showing the genus and species.
• Prokaryotes characteristics

  • Often unicellular
  • Have no nucleus
  • Have cell walls, not made of cellulose
  • Have no mitochondria.
• All living organisms can be classified using a classification system that consists of five kingdoms. These five kingdoms are:

  • Animals
  • Plants
  • Fungi
  • Protoctists
  • Prokaryotes
