  • Shield volcanoes - have a slow sloped and consist of frozen lava after it is hardened

  • Caldera volcanoes- are circular depressions in the ground over a magma chamber
  • Fissure volcanoes- have no main crater, the ground just splits and lava pours outs through the cracks

    2. Non-violent- calm or quiet eruptions
  • Phreatic or Hydrothermal- is a stream driven eruption that occur hot rock or hot spring
  • Phreatomagmatic- violent reaction due to the contact between water and magma
  • Strombolian- a periodic weak to violent eruption characterized by fountain lava
  • Vulcanian- characterized by tall eruption with pyroclastic flow and ashfall tephra
  • Plinian- excessively explosive type of eruption of gas and pyroclastics
