The Clock by Ngozi Chima- Uzosike

• In this play, time is portrayed as something that cannot be controlled but only managed.
• Time is an important factor that determines our life span, it can be used to measure how long we have lived or how much longer we will live.
• The clock is the symbol of time
• Time is depicted as a force beyond human control, with characters struggling to manage it effectively.
• The ticking sound of the clock represents the constant pressure of time on individuals' lives.
• The ticking sound of the clock represents the constant reminder of mortality and the inevitability of aging.

  4. DILIGENCE (NB: The girls don't stay a spinster after her 25th birthday)
• Adaku deals with Ice fish hence the nickname by Ifeoma, "FRESH"

  Ifeoma deals with second hand clothes hence the nickname by Adaku, "BEND DOWN SELECT"
• There are 4 days in a week

• Male storytellers were NWAOLIE, IKEDI, OKAIBE

  Female storytellers were NWAMMA and NWANONYE

  MAMA NWANKWO is the great storyteller and guardian of morality
• Madam NWANKWO AKA Adabeke Ugonna had 5 children:

  1. Nwankwo( boy and lives in Owelle)
  2. Chioma( girl and lives is Owelle)
  3. Ikechukwu( boy and lives in Owelle)
  4. Ego( girl and lives in village with mum)
  5. Ogochukwu( girl and lives in village with mum). (NB: Ugonna's late husband was Mazi Chimalobi Ugonna)
• They took Ugonna to St Monica's Specialist Hospital in Owelle, the capital city of Umu state.

  • They meet prophet Isaac( had pulmonary disease and was treated by Dr Samson Woko)
  • Dr Sam Oluchi treated her too
  • She met Dr Nkechi Obinna( who was picked near Ekeonunwa market) and Nkiru Chinemere( voice of nightingale)
  • Dr Rita Eze studied Mass Communication and got Phd. also gave other girls scholarship. (Mgbafor came on Orie day)
• Akamu was an agricultural community, had entrepreneurial skills, good story tellers and had ladies known for their virtues
• FFMDA( Future Female Medical Doctors Association) that was founded by Madam Nwankwo, Nkiru, Nkechi, Ogechi, Adaugo with Mgbafor as leader turned into FFF( Five Fingers of Friendship) of Adabeke, Nkechi, Nkiru, Mgbafor Chidiebere and Rita Okafor.
