    Independent organisations responsible for guiding and providing advice to the governments in the development of their policies and law
  • Advisory groups
    • Experts in their field with an in-depth knowledge of their particular industry and its associated products and links to industries
    • Many of these advisory groups lobby various levels of government hoping to encourage the development of policies and legislation that benefit their organisation and the consumer alike
    • Some are self-regulating, while others are responsible to a particular organisation such as the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry
  • Australian Food & Grocery Council (AFGC)
    The leading national advisory body representing Australia's food, drink and grocery manufacturing industry<|>Helps shape a business environment that encourages the food manufacturing sector to grow and remain profitable and provides input into policy formulation that impacts the probability, viability and sustainability of the industry both nationally and internationally
  • Nutrition Australia
    An independent, non-government, non-profit, community-based organisation that promotes health and wellbeing of all Australians<|>Australia's main community nutrition education body, providing scientifically based nutrition information to encourage all Australians to become healthier by eating a variety of foods and by being physically active
  • Australian Beverages Council

    The peak organization representing the interests of the manufacturers, distributors and importers of non-alcoholic beverages<|>Has worked with the Australian Food and Grocery Council to advocate for fairness on standards, regulations and policies that apply to non-alcoholic beverages and to standardise nutritional labelling on beverage products so consumers can make informed choices
  • Australian Citrus Growers Incorporated

    Represents all citrus growers around Australia<|>Assists farmers in managing issues such as fruit fly and provides assistance for other issues as they arise, such as drought<|>Has been working with the federal government to assist drought-stricken citrus growers, with funding allowing Australian producers to remain competitive and ensure that consumers have a choice of citrus fruit to purchase
  • Australian Chicken Meat Federation (ACMF)
    Promotes and protects the interests of the chicken meat industry by conducting research, securing representation on appropriate committees, boards and commissions and approaching government bodies on all matters of concern to the industry<|>Worked with the Australian government on preparations for avian flu and planning a response if avian flu were to enter Australia
  • NSW Food Authority (NFA)

    Set up to ensure food safety across the entire food chain from primary production to retail sales<|>Commissioned a report that showed almost half of all pregnant women ignore serious risks associated with Listeria bacteria, which if transmitted to an unborn can lead to miscarriage, infection or stillbirth<|>As a result, launched an education campaign about the dangers of Listeria and how it can be avoided
