  • What is sexual reproduction?

    The combination of two sets of genetic material/information from two different sex cells to form a new living organism
  • Where is the genetic information stored in organisms?
    In genes, in the DNA and in the nucleus of a cell
  • What is the testes?

    It produces the male sex cell - the sperm
  • What is the penis?

    It places the sperm in the body of the female and protects the urethra
  • What is the urethra?

    It takes either semen or urine outside the body
  • What is the scrotum?

    It holds the testes outside the body to control the temperature
  • What is the epididymis?

    It stores and matured the sperm cells
  • What is the vas deferens/sperm duct?

    It carries the sperm from the testes and epididymis to the urethra

    It produces seminal fluid which nourishes the sperm and allows them to swim. Sperm and seminal fluid together are called semen.

    Male and female:
    Pubic hair grows, hair grows under arms, tends to have a growth spurt
    Female:
    Hips widen, start to menstruate, breasts develop, voice can get deeper
    Male:
    Voice deepens, shoulders get wider, begin to produce sperm, hair grows on the face
  • What causes changes in puberty?
    Changes in hormones

    Male: sperm cell
    Female: egg cell
