  • 3 main types of weathering:
    1.physical weathering
    2.chemical weathering
    3.biological weathering
  • Sedimentary rocks are formed by weathering, erosion, deposition, compaction, and cementation.
  • weathering: breaks rocks into smaller pieces
  • erosion: the wearing away of rock by water, wind, or ice
  • compaction: the exertion of force on something so that it becomes more dense
  • cementation: the binding together of particles or other things by cement.
  • transport: moves sediments far away from the original rock
  • sedimentary rocks take hundreds of years to form
  • deposition is the settling of sediments
  • examples of igneous rock:
    -basalt
    -obsidian
    -granite
  • you can recycle

    2. metals
    3. plastic
  • materials originally come from the earths crust ,atmosphere and oceans
  • phosphorous is used to make fertilisers and it is estimated to run out between 2060 and 2110
  • gold is used to make jewellery and electrical connectionsand it is estimated to run out in 2040
  • tin is used to make food containers and solder, it is estimated to run out in 2030
  • aluminium is used for aeroplanes, kitchen foil, cans, batteries etc.
It is estimated to run out in 2500
