CELL MEDIATED RESPONSE

Cards (2)

  • PROCESS OF THE CELL MEDIATED RESPONSE?
    1. Pathogen is engulfed and destroyed by phagocyte
    2. Antigens presented in cell surface (becomes APC)
    3. T helper cells attach to antigens on APC by receptors
    4. Activates T helper cells to divide by mitosis to replicate
    5. Creates a large number of clones
    6. Cloned T helper cells differentiate into different cells
  • WHAT HAPPENS TO THE CLONED T HELPER CELLS AFTER DIFFERENTIATION?
    • some stay as T helper cells and activate B lymphocytes
    • some stimulate macrophages to perform phagocytosis
    • some become memory cells
    • some become T cytotoxic cells (killer T cells)
