REPLICATION

Cards (2)

  • PROCESS OF HIV REPLICATION?
    1. HIV transported in blood until it attaches to a CD4 protein on T helper cells
    2. HIV protein capsule fuses with T helper cell membrane allowing RNA and enzymes from HIV to enter
    3. HIV reverse transcriptase enzyme copies viral RNA into a DNA copy and moves to T helper cell nucleus
    4. Here, mRNA is transcribed
    5. T helper cell creates viral proteins leading to new viral particles
  • WHY IS HIV A RETROVIRUS?
    reverse transcription
