• Stimulus : After eating, blood glucose levels rise
• Pancreas detects high glucose levels
• Beta cells in the pancreas release insulin into the bloodstream
• Insulin binds to receptors in muscle and fat cells, sending a signal for the cell to open protein channels
• Glucose enters the cell from the bloodstream
• Inside the cell, glucose is used for energy or stored as glycogen 
• Response: Blood glucose levels decreases as glucose is taken up by cells and stored
• Feedback: lowered blood glucose reduces insulin secretion, maintaining balance
