    1. External intercostal muscles contract and pull ribs up and outwards
    2. Internal intercostal muscles relax
    3. Diaphragm contracts causing it to move down and flatten
    4. Lung air pressure decreases
    5. Lung volume increases
    6. Air moves into lungs, as atmospheric pressure is greater than thorax pressure
