Pericardium

• the pericardium is a double-layered sack, with one layer attached to the heart tissue, other layer on surrounding tissue
• between the two layers is a fluid called Pericardial fluid
• the pericardial fluid prevents friction between heart muscle tissue& surrounding tissue during contraction
• friction causes pain
