pH scale

    Cards (6)

    • What are Arrhenius acids?
Have a high concentration of H ions in solution.
    • What are hydronium ions?
In solution, the hydrogen ion combines with a water molecule to form H30 +.
    • What is an Arrhenius base?
Bases produce a high concentration of OH ions in solution.
    • What is concentration?
The measure of the number of molecules per unit volume.
    • What is acid strength?
A measure of how much the substance ionises in solution. Strong acids fully ionise, weak acids only partially ionise.
    • Where are acids and bases on pH scale.
Acids are lower, bases are higher.
