  • P- there is research evidence which supports the cognitive explanation of depression
  • E- Grazioli and Terry (2000) assessed 65 pregnant women for cognitive vulnerability and depression before they gave birth. They found that women who were judged with higher cognitive vulnerability were more likely to suffer from post natal depression
  • Ex- Cohen et al (2019) tracked the development of 473 adolescents regularly measuring cognitive vulnerability it was found that showing cognitive vulnerability predicted depression
  • L- these findings support the proposal that depression is associated with faulty information processing, negative self-schemas and the triad of impairments
