Variables

• Operationalizing variables

  Defining variables in forms so they can easily be manipulated or measured e.g. intelligence as IQ score
• Independant variables

  The variable that the research changes/manipulates to see if it has effect can dependant variable
• Dependant variable

  The variable that the researcher measures
• Co-variables

  The two variables measured in a correlation study
• Confounding variables

  Variables in study that are not being measured or manipulated that affect some ppts behaviours but not all
• Extraneous variables

  Variables in study that are not being measured or manipulated that affect all ppt's behaviour equally
