4.1 - Photosynthesis

Cards (4)

  • Photosynthesis takes place in the chloroplasts, using a substance called chlorophyll.
  • Carbon Dioxide + Water —> Glucose + Oxygen (+ATP)
    6CO2 + 6H2O —> C6H12O6 + 6O2 (+ATP)
  • Photosynthesis is an endothermic reaction
    1. CO2 diffuses into the leaves through stomata
    2. Water is taken up from soil through roots, and transported through xylem to the leaves
    3. Glucose is used for cellular respiration, to make cellulose, starch, amino acids and oils+fats
