  Can be hydrolysed to ADP + Pi and synthesised back easily

  -Metabolic reactions

  -Active transport

  -Muscle contraction

  -Phosphorylation
• Why is ATP the ideal energy currency molecule?

  -Releases small, manageable amounts of energy

  -Releases energy instantly as it cannot be stored

  -Phosphorylate other molecules to make them more reactive

  -Can be rapidly resynthesised from ADP+ Pi

  -Cannot leave cells so it is not lost
