  • Name the taxons
    Domain
    Kingdom
    Phylum
    Class
    Order

    Genus
    Species
  • Define 'phylogenetic' 'hierarchy'
Phylogenetic: based on evolutionary relationships (common ancestors)
Hierarchy: smaller groups put into larger groups with no overlap
  • Why is unique courtship behaviour important?
-Allows recognition of the same species so offspring are fertile
    -Indicates sexual maturity
-Allows pair bonds to form to raise offspring
-Synchronises mating so it takes place when there is the greatest chance of fertilisation
-Helps the young become able to breed through observation
