• 1. bergshrund crevasse opens at the back of hollow
• 2. allows meltwater and rock fragments to get to glacier base and increase erosion
• 3. glaciers weight pushes down causing rotational sliding which deepens hollow
• 4. friction causes ice to slow at front of corrie forming a rock lip and this collects water forming a tarn
