Mitosis

    Cards (7)

    • Cell Cycle
The process by which a cell grows, replicates its DNA, and divides into two daughter cells they do this for growth particularly in younger people and repair of damaged cells
    • The cell contains a nucleus this contains the cell genetic information. the genetic information is made up of DNA strands/ chromosomes. People have 46 chromosomes. 23 from your mother and 23 from your father. to make 23 pair.
    • Cell devision is apart of the cell cycle where the cell spilts this process is called mitosis
    • Cytokinesis Is the last and final stage of mitosis, where the cell splits and two daughter cells are formed.
    • Stage 3 of the cell cycle is called the metaphase.
During stage 3, the cytoplasm and cell membrane divide to form 2 identical daughter cells and a new nucleus is formed.
    • Stage 2 in the cell cycle is called the prometaphase.
      Mitosis occurs during this stage.
During stage 2, the nucleus of the cell divides and one set of chromosomes is pulled to each end of the cell.
    • Stage l of the cell cycle is called the prophase. This is the longest part of the cell cycle.
During stage l, a copy of each chromosome is made.
There is also an increased number Of subcellular structures getting ready for cell division
