NLF (national liberation front)

• what was the NLF?

  political group formed in south 1960. original desire was to kick France out but massively opposed Diem and wasn’t communist at first, quickly dominated by North who sought reunification as a socialist state.

  • highly critical to communist success in S viet against ARVN and US army
• NLF programmes aims?

  • overthrow gov and US imperialists/ the power Diem holds. institute national democratic union.
  • institute lib dem gov
  • establish independent economy. increase life conditions of all.
  • decrease land rent and add agrarian reform
  • promote peaceful FP
  • show normal relations between 2 superpowers and give into peaceful reunification
