Sub-topic #1: Using the Analytical Balance

Cards (7)

  • Before using the analytical balance, its leveling
    position should be checked.
  • The leveling feet should be adjusted to allow the
    balance leveled to the reference position
  • Reference position – determined by the spirit level,
    leveling bubble, or plumb bob that is an integral part
    of the balance.
  • Spirit level – also called leveling bubble/plumb bob;
    found at the front of the balance that indicates
    whether or not the balance is level
  • The bubble should be well-centered in the circle of
    the spirit level.
  • If the balance is not level, turn the adjustable feet
    located at the front of the balance
  • Analytical balances are covered by a draft shield for
    protection against air currents.
