  1. Sperm cell reaches the ovum
  2. Chemicals released from cells surrounding ovum
  3. Triggering acrosome reaction
  4. The acrosome swells, fuses with sperm cell surface membrane
  5. Digestive enzymes release, digest through the 2 coatings
  6. The sperm cell membrane fuses with the ovum cell membrane
  7. The sperm nucleus enters the ovum
  8. Cortical reaction
  9. Cortical granules release enzymes
  10. Hardens zona pellucida (so other sperm cant reach cell membrane)
  11. The nucleis fuse
