    * many schools group children by age to reflect the stages Piaget put forward eg Key Stage 2 = concrete operational stage
    * there's a curriculum for each key stage to not teach them something they're not ready for
    * Piaget believed intelligence is fixed, so schools expect children to reach targets depending on natural ability
  • learning theories adapted to development:
    * many British schools teach about importance of growth mindset
    * teachers focus more on making children understand their learning rather than finding the child's learning style
