      1.Hunting and Gathering Society
      • earliest and simplest form
      • generally small, in size and family
      • nomadic - spend their time searching for food - no permanent territory
    • 2. Pastoral society
      • domestification of animals as food
      • larger population and remain in longer place
      • produces surplus food
      • handicrafts
    • 3. Horticultural society
      • small-scale cultivation of plant
      • semi-nomadic - they travel to another place if they have already depicted the resources in one area
      • roles and responsibilities are defined according to gender
    • 4. Agrarian or Agricultural society
      • large-scale and long-term cultivation of crops
      • improve technology and use tools in farming
    • 5. Feudal society
      • ownership of land
      • Those who own land are most powerful
      • The lord depends on the vassals for resources. The vassals depend on peasant for service. Peasant depend for protection.

      • advance in science & tech, innovation in communication & transport
      • greater inequalities in wealth, power defined by nature of work

      • based on knowledge, info and sale of services
      • rises to visual society
      • virtual society - engage in complex relationships - used of internet

    • How does society influence our development as person?
      As we grow, we begin to adopt the traits, traditions.
      We learn through our interaction with family and members of society.
      Socialization
    • Norms - set of traits and behavior that society consider acceptable and are passed on to others
    • Laws - more formal that establish and define acceptable behavior of citizen.
    • Folkways - fewer norms that arise from tradition
    • social system - organized set of relationship among individual that composes society
    • social rule - action & behavior expected of a certain individual
    • Social groups or social classes - individual who share similar background and perform similar roles in society
    • social institutions - groups that perform vital functions in society
    • social values - action or ideals that are considered important by society
