Cards (6)
Action potential
occurs when information is sent down an
axon
2.
Electrical impulses
reach the end of a neuron and the
vesicles
bind with the
presynaptic
membrane
3. Once binded,
neurotransmitters
are released from the
vesicles.
Only found on
one end
of the neuron ensuring
direction
of travel
4.
Neurotransmitters
travel across the
synaptic
cleft and attach to the
receptors
on the
post
synaptic
membrane.
5. The
chemical
message is converted back to an
electrical
impulse and it continues down the
next
neuron
6. Stimulation of post synaptic
receptors
result in either
excitation
or
inhibition
of
postsynaptic
membrane and determines if neurons
fire
or not.
