      1970 - women now earn as much as men
    • same sex marriage act
      2014 - given right to marry
    • reasons for family diversity
      employment opportunities - women may choose carrer over marriage
      longer life expectancy - more likely to spend most time with the same person but may conclude in divorce
      decline in religion - cohabitation and divorce less likely to be seen as wrong . secularisation.
      immigration- increased more ethnicity and diversity
