Cell transport

    Cards (5)

    • Cell transport is split into 3 types
      Diffusion
      Osmosis
      Active transport
    • Diffusion
The net movement of a substance from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration.
    • Diffusion occurs when particles are randomly moving about, colliding with other particles.
    • Osmosis
The net movement of water molecules from a solution with a high concentration of water molecules to a solution with a lower concentration of water molecules, through a cell's partially permeable membrane
    • Active transport
Process where substances are absorbed from a low concentration to a higher concentration against the concentration gradient
