Change to conserve

• Conservatives accept that change needs to happen but they think that it should be small changes. Not revolution but evolution
• Conservatives saw the social contract theory as dangerous as it encouraged citizens to feel justified in overthrowing the Government. The conservatives viewed the Government as important
• Conservatives oppose radical social change as they view society as an organic, complex whole.
• Conservatives believe that long established institutions and practices such as the monarchy and parliamentary sovereignty reflect the accumulated wisdom of the past and so are tried and tested
• Conservatives believe that change should build on what works in order to conserve what is valuable
