3 ways of DNA replication

Cards (3)

  • The Conservative method:
    • Original, parental DNA would remain intact
    • A new DNA molecule would be made from scratch
  • The Semi-conservative method:
    • DNA doubles
    • Each strand acts as a template, to which a new DNA strand can be synthesized
    • Each double-stranded DNA strand has one original DNA strand & one newly synthesised strand
  • The Dispersive method:
    • The original, parental DNA molecule breaks into fragments
    • These fragments are distributed across the two molecules with the newly, synthesised strands
