      • in summer the skies are clear with little cloud and temperatures are high.
      • in winter skies also clear with little cloud, temperature is cold and maybe some frost.
      • the warm front clouds are called nimbostratus clouds
    • Depressions
      • Isobars are close together the wind is heavy and has a rapid change in air pressure.
      • wind blows anticlockwise along the isobars by following an anticlockwise direction.
      • warn air is pushed up where it cools and precipitates with clouds and rain.
      • the warm sector behind the warm front brings warm temp but cloud front front brings cold temperatures.

    • Four factors that effect weather
      • Latitude- Scottish highlands are colder because they are further from the equator. This is due to the sun rays being less concentrated.
      • Altitude/relief- as altitude increases, temp decreases so places like Ben Nevis are colder than the surrounding low lands it gets 1°C colder for every 100m in height.
      • Aspect- places facing south are warmer because they get more sun places facing north are cold due to northerly winds.
      • Distance from the sea- in summer, places close to the sea are cooler because the sea takes longer to heat up snd also retains the heat for longer.
