ethical issue: informed consent - participants must be told the purpose and the risks of the experiment so they can make an informed decision about whether to participate

presumptive consent- assuming they would consent by askinga group of similar people
ethical issue deception: deliberately witholding info from participants or misleading them
how to deal with it: participants should be fully debfriefed at the end and told the true purpose of the study
and should have option to discuss any concerns and withdraw data (retrospective consent)
ethical issue: protection from harm - the researcher must make sure all participants don't experience physical or psychological harm during the study
solution: offercounselling of necessary and make sure they have the right to withdraw if they feel they may be harmed
ethical issue: privacy - participants have a right to controlinformation about themselves and how muchitsused

don't study anyone without their informed consent unless in a public place and publicbehaviour
ethical issue : confedentiality - right participants have which concerns any personal data of theirs being protected
solution :anonymity can be maintained- don't record or share any personal details like names of participants so it can't be traced back to them
use numbers or false names to represent individual participants
The BPSCode of Ethics are a set of guidelines which have been outlined by the British Psychological Society for anyone carrying out psychological research in the UK.
There are four ethical principles which are the main domains of responsibility for consideration by researchers; respect, competence, responsibility and integrity.
