  • Growing tensions between Yugoslavia and USSR led to expulsion from Cominform - 1948
  • Allowed USSR to control satellite states to follow communism - cut contact with capitalism countries
  • Spread propaganda - accused USA to be same as Nazi Germany
• Comecon:

  • Founded in 1949, 2 years after Marshall Plan
  • Made to keep Eastern Europe away from USA influence
  • Aid with communist principles
  • Arranged trade
  • 1953 - Comecon to organise industrial planning across satellite states - each state given 5 Year Plan and discouraged trading with West
