• What is imitation?

  • Learning occurs via imitation (copying) of behaviour modelled by significant others
  • Conditioning = slow process, but when behaviour is modelled, behaviour = rapidly learnt
  • Factors affecting whether a behaviour is imitated:
  • Characteristics of model
  • Observer's perceived ability to perform behaviour
  • Observed consequences of the behaviour
